How can I participate in SI-TF?

Just sign up with a username, email and password. Then you can start with the challenges. Registration also allows you to view various statistics and rankings.


How many points are there for each challenge?

That depends on the challenge. You see the respective points directly at each challenge. Lightweight challenges bring less points. Difficult challenges bring several points.


What is the flag format?

There is no fixed flag format. However, every flag contains a bit of "leet". We're sure you'll recognize the flag as soon as you find it.


Which categories are available at SI-TF?

At the moment there are challenges in the following categories:

Forensics:
Explore the art of digital forensics, which is all about uncovering hidden data within a large swath of information. Solve challenging puzzles in areas such as stenography, memory forensics, data recovery, and system examination. You can find the flag if you look carefully enough!


Reverse Engineering:
Examine programs given to you and find out their code. Figure out their inner workings and use the information you gather to find the flag!


Crypto:
Crack codes and ciphers like RSA. Do cryptanalysis, use deduction, and get the flags!


Web:
Find various vulnerabilities in web pages, and use them to get access to areas you shouldn't.


Miscellaneous:
Use what ever it takes to get the flag!


Coding:
Show your scripting and coding skills to find the flag!


Network:
You have to analyze and crack some network-traffic, for example secret messages between clients and servers.

Steganography:
In this category you can find some kind of obfuscation or other hidden messages.


Are there prizes to win?

There are no material or cash prizes to win. However, you can reach fame among the participants with your score.


Can I play with several people per team?

No. You have to fight on your own in SI-TF. Have fun!


Are there any restrictions or unauthorized actions?

Yes. It is not allowed to directly attack the server infrastructure of SI-TF or the Framework CTFd.
